How to Use Poole Chlorine

Chlorine is one of the most effective and widely used chemicals for maintaining a clean, safe swimming pool. Whether you're a first-time pool owner or looking to refine your routine, understanding how to use pool chlorine properly is essential for keeping your water crystal clear and free from harmful bacteria and algae.

Why Chlorine Matters

Chlorine works by breaking down organic contaminants and killing bacteria, viruses, and algae that can make your pool unsafe and uninviting. It's the backbone of any solid pool maintenance programme, and getting it right means fewer problems down the line.

Understanding Chlorine Types

Pool chlorine comes in several forms, each with its own advantages. Liquid chlorine is fast-acting and ideal for quick adjustments. Testing Your Water

Before adding any chlorine, test your pool water using a reliable test kit. You're aiming for a free chlorine level between 1 and 3 parts per million (ppm). This range is effective at killing contaminants whilst remaining safe for swimmers. Test your water at least twice a week during the swimming season, and more frequently if your pool gets heavy use.
