Pool Recovery
Pools that have been left alone need a different approach to pools that have simply drifted off balance.
After a long shutdown, a failed pump, or a house move where nobody knows what was last put in, the sensible order is to skim and remove debris first, then test, then correct pH, then shock, then filter continuously.
Do not dose blind. Water that has sat untreated for months can be well outside the range test strips read accurately, and stacking chemicals on top of unknown chemistry is how people end up with cloudy water, scale, or a reaction they did not expect.
Be prepared for the filter to need cleaning several times as it pulls out dead organic matter. On a badly neglected pool, partial draining and refilling is sometimes cheaper and faster than treating your way out, particularly if stabiliser has built up over years and is holding your chlorine hostage.
The products below handle the chemical side of a recovery. Patience and filtration handle the rest.
